History
We love sport here at Flipside HQ. That love led us to start this project, in which we aim to uncover some of the lesser-known sports here in Lincolnshire. There are a bunch of great, often community-led, events and clubs out there, but they are not always easy to find. That’s where we step in. We want to give them the coverage they deserve and, just as importantly, let you know how to get involved.

Who are you?
We are four budding young journalists from the University of Lincoln:
- Dan Brown, at 25 years of age, is the least young of the group. His sporting abilities include being able to run a lot, which came in useful when competing in the 2013 Rotterdam Marathon, which he completed in a decent if unspectacular 4:30:00. Twitter: @DanBrown89.
- Gary Marriott has loved pretty much any and every sport for as long as he can remember. “I think it’s a good way to live healthily, make friends and most importantly enjoy yourself,” he says. It’s hard to argue with that. Twitter: @Gmarriott1.
- Matthew Browne is the muscles of the group, as well as being a huge fan of sport outside of the gym. He’s determined to help ensure each and every sport gets the recognition they deserve here in Lincolnshire. Twitter: @MattBrowne1.
- Declan Osborn is really good at squash. Peaking at number 5 in England in his junior years, he also has four National Championship titles to his name. Seeing squash rejected for the Olympic Games on several occasions has inspired Declan to support and promote minority sports.
What are Flipguides?
Flipguides are short videos designed to give you a taste of sports you might not be familiar with. We seek expertise from players and coaches in order to learn the basic rules and characteristics of the sport, as well as finding out where beginners can get involved. We tend to have a go ourselves, with mixed results!

Of course you can! We are always on the look-out for new sports, so if you want yours given the Flipside treatment, we would love you to contact us.
I don’t live in Lincolnshire. Why am I even on this website?
In time, Flipside aims to expand outside of Lincolnshire. Until then, our Flipguides still contain loads of non-location-specific information, so be sure to check them out.
