Matt’s fitness tip of the week: Women can use weights

Last week was about setting goals and how important they can be to help you progress. This week I will be advising women on weight training.

There is a myth that if women use weights they will immediately develop huge muscles. This is not the case.

It can lead to excellent muscle definition and tone if done correctly. You need to concentrate on doing small weight and lots of reps; each rep must be perfect, this will help you achieve that burn.

If you look all over the Internet right now there are women showing off their curves and twerking along to the newest hit. Not all of them have these curves naturally.

You can achieve these same results through squats, a very important leg exercise that increases muscles in your quads, hamstrings and bum. If you stick at it and maintain great form you can achieve the same results as many others have.

If you do some serious work on your core and abs, along with cardio and a healthy diet, you will see yourself develop a six-packā€¦just in time for summer to begin as well.

Try it at least, who knows, you might just enjoy yourself after all.
