Batting Out

 Arran Brindle has decided to call time on her international cricket career, retiring after just helping England retain the Ashes.

Brindle spent 15 years playing at the top level in what will be deemed a hugely successful career.Starting her England career in 1999, she went on to represent England in 11 Tests, 88 One Day Internationals and 35 Twenty20 Internationals.

Regarded as one of the best female fielders in the world, she also took 58 international catches.

Enter for the Lincoln 10k (running not money)

 Entries for the Lincoln 10k are now open. The event is one of Lincolnshire’s most popular and 6,000 or so people are expected to take part of April 5 and 6.

Those youngsters willing to get involved can can get involved for free on Saturday, April 5, when the 2.8km Direct Textiles Ltd Primary Schools Race, for nine to 11-years, starts at 9.15am; followed at 9.20am by the 5km Running Imp Secondary School Race for 11 to 14-year-olds. All children will receive a free t-shirt, medal and goody bag.

There will also be races available for wheelchair users. The fastest 3 male and female runners – along with the wheelchair category – will win a cash prize. As usual a medal is given out and goody bag to all those competing.

Entries cost £23 for those unaffiliated with running clubs and £21 for those who are.

Olympic Champion comes to town

Sainsbury’s school game is coming to Lincolnshire in 16 days and will be bringing with it an Olympic champion.

Tim Baillie, won Gold at the London Olympics for the canoe slalom event, will be opening the Sainbury’s School Games festival and presenting trophies at the event.

950 young athletes, from across Lincolnshire will be joining to compete against one another, for schools and county level.
