SPORTATIVE
Here is a good chance to get involved in alternative sports in Lincoln if you’re struggling where to start…
Backed by National Lottery and funded by an Olympic legacy programme, Sportivate has helped give up to 600 young people the chance to try alternative sports in Lincolnshire this year.
Sportivate helps young people, who are not involved in any sporting activity, find sports they are interested in, directing them to local teams and clubs in their area. They also help with the costs offering people who join free or discounted courses with their chosen sport.
The programme runs from April to October and was set up in 2011 by Sport England, who are giving lottery money to each county up until 2017. This is hoped to help encourage more 11 to 25-year-olds in being active and taking part in more sport.
Just under 5,000 people in Lincolnshire so far have benefitted from Sportivate since funding started.
